Beta Release!
Hello there! This is SpaceKryptonite here to bring you the first update post for OneBit Adventure, a free to play retro dungeon crawler currently available in the Google Play Store. This has been quite the journey of going through bugs after bugs while learning how server-side scripting works. You can expect great things with this release showing of 5 new classes and 1 unlock-able class known as the Almighty One. I am excited to see how these classes are played throughout the release, but let's talk about what's in OneBit v1.0
Level Chunk Cookies
To make things easier, the game has 50 level chunks that it can throw together to make endless adventures possible. Maps consist of chests, items, and enemies that spawn at a certain rate. As you progress through your adventure, the level generator changes things up and flips maps to give more changes to the environment. Overtime, more level chunks will be added and eventually quest lines will work as level chunks develop.
Balance is Key
Thanks to my brother-in-law's game breaking tests, most of the game's bugs have been squashed. I remember good ole Blood Knight with his lifesteal. Lol nothing kills that fella. Those times have passed. The thing I can't underestimate is balance in the world of classes in higher levels. This is tedious to do solo since I would have to level each skill. Ultimately, you guys can help provide input on the game being too easy or too hard. I am open to suggestions.
Stats on Stacks
The game's stat system relies heavily on exponential growth with almost everything. This makes tweaks to later levels easy; however, you guys don't see any of those stats in game. In the future, there will be a tab to view your characters stats while adventuring, but for now, you can trust the numbers... sorta.
Hey! Boss?
Boss battles were on the to-do list, but I sorta ran low on time and complications with getting artwork. Don't worry though. This will be the first big update to come to OneBit and in the future, quest lines. Gotta think of a fancy name, but bosses will be spawned in with their own level chunk and have unique movement patterns that will challenge even the toughest warriors! Hype.
iOS eeing it
Apple users must wait for future updates. I do not have a mac to export the project unfortunately. The only thing to do is stay tuned. You will seek justice in the hype!
No Ads... For Now
OneBit will always remain free to play and ads are great a providing revenue as you can see the numerous apps on the play store, but can be annoying to interrupt your gamer flow. Currently the game features 0 ads. I do plan on reward based ads. It's optional and doesn't interrupt your gaming experience. This is the last thing on my mind as I will be focusing more efforts on gameplay content over ad placements.
I look forward to the future of this game and hope you too are excited! This is SpaceKryptonite logging out.
